The Blitz

Summer 1940...

Hitler's plan to invade the UK had been codenamed Operation Sealion.  The first step was the destruction of the Royal Air Force, and their airfields.  As quickly as they were damaged the runways were repaired.  While the fighting was taking place in the summer skies overhead, the people in the major British cities suffered almost constant bombing raids by the Luftwaffe, their mission to destroy the industrial heart of the UK, and to reduce the population's morale to such a degree that they would no longer have the stomache to resist.

This backfired.  What became known as the Blitz only hardened the British people, carrying on as best they could, defiant and proud.

This gallery shows my figures of the Home Front - those unsung heroes and heriones who kept the country running, even as the bombs rained down.
